Don’t you love the shine of a new car? You get it because the car was just recently painted and buffed with a paint-shine finisher; on top of all of this, the car was most likely recently waxed. As a vehicle ages, its shine begins to go away, especially because of improper cleaning, waxing and acid rain. With these easy steps, you can reverse the effects of acid rain and have your car shining again.
Things You’ll Need
Sponge Car wax Car polish Multi-Clean cleaner Towels Buffer pad Electric or air buffer Hose
Mix Multi-Clean alkaline all-purpose cleaner with water, according to a 10-to-1 ratio. Wash your car thoroughly with a sponge and the all-purpose cleaner. Hose off your car with water.
Apply car polish to a damp sponge. Polish in a circular motion, covering the entire surface of the car and especially the spots that have been damaged by acid rain spots. Hose off your car and wipe it dry with towels.
Park your car in a shaded area. Dampen a towel with water and begin to apply the car wax in a circular motion.
Allow the wax to dry for a little bit. A good rule of thumb is to do one side of the car at a time and begin to remove the wax where you started waxing on each side. Use a new, dry towel to circularly buff and wipe the wax off the car.
Rent or purchase an air or electric buffer. Connect a soft foam car-polisher pad to the buffer. Turn on the buffer and, with circular motions, buff your entire car again with just the polisher pad.
